Drexel University Watersheds Project

An Acre an Hour: Documenting the Effects of Urban Sprawl on a Model Watershed Near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The principal objective of this project is to document the effects of urbanization on Valley Creek Watershed, which lies in a rapidly developing area of suburban Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Valley Creek is a tributary of the Schuylkill River and runs through Valley Forge National Historical Park.

Trout in the Classroom

Trout in the Classroom (TIC) is an environmental education program in which students in grades k-12 engage in stream habitat study, learn to appreciate water resources, begin to foster a conservation ethic, and grow to understand ecosystems.

 

USGS - US Geological Survey

The U.S. Geological Survey maintains 14 stations to measure the flow of Chester County streams. Surface-water information collected at these streamflow-measurement stations is used for surveillance, planning, design, flood warning, operation and management of dams, in water-related fields such as water supply, flood control, irrigation, bridge and culvert design, wildlife management, pollution abatement, flood-plain management, and water-resources development.

 

Valley Creek Restoration Plan

(PDF Document) The Restoration Plan presents restoration strategies and projects that can be implemented in the Valley Creek fishery and restore the natural resources in the watershed, with the ultimate goal of renewed uses such as angling of the water resources that were once provided by Valley Creek.
